At the edge of the Sarsang Reservoir, with its stunning lake scenery, Umudlu presents a renewed opportunity to rekindle “hope” with the return of its previously displaced population to a green and self-sufficient community. Surrounded by agricultural lands and lush forests, and with a verdant valley running through the centre of the project area, Umudlu exhibits immense potential for community revitalization.
The project proposes the creation of a series of central amenities around the valley, ensuring that all residential areas are within walking distance. The valley is designed as a central green spine featuring sports and recreational facilities, strolling paths, and connections to the waterfront. At the waterfront, a pedestrian promenade with piers and retail units is planned. Self-sufficiency is a key aim of the project, to be achieved through a proposed productive cycle incorporating complementary facilities such as meat and dairy production with animal husbandry, honey production with beekeeping, and fruit juice and drying facilities with fruit orchards. All these elements reflect traditional productive practices.
