IPYIM About Design
The project is located in the city center and features social gathering and entertainment venues such as shops, offices, cafes, and restaurants. The most significant aspect influencing the design's architectural form is its connection to the city. The site occupies a single-facing position adjacent to the main street. The design creates a defined void on the street at the front, extending it towards the building. This creates a spacious urban space within a relatively narrow street while simultaneously establishing a strong spatial connection between the building and the street at a human scale. Another significant feature of the urban context is the presence of an existing historic street behind the site, one of the city's most important commercial axes. The dead-end pedestrian path connecting to this street on the east side of the site has been continued, and the back and front streets have been relocated from the site to connect to the main street. This newly created pedestrian path, which continues the existing urban fabric, creates a vibrant pedestrian path accommodating small shops and integrates them into the design. In addition to providing the building's office entrances, this pedestrian path provides access to shopping areas, including a spacious gallery space, for pedestrians coming from the rear street. It also allows daylight to enter the building's eastern façade. Another feature influencing the building's architectural form is the idea that office, shopping, and social spaces can be used independently, which shaped the design. The café-restaurant on the upper floor of the block facing the main street, even when other entrances are closed, connects directly to the street via a viewing staircase and a transparent elevator inside a tube that connects to the street. Similarly, the bowling café areas in the basement are directly connected to the street via stairs designed to the east. The architectural form of the design is determined by the basic decisions that determine the environmental context and the detailed information reflected in the design.
