The project is a ministry complex located in Bakau, Gambia. In addition to eight ministries
buildings, the complex includes social units, parking areas, and green spaces. All units are strategically positioned with consideration for greenery, considering Gambia’s climate and daily habits. The structures are interconnected by pergolas, each adapting its identity based on the area it covers. The pergolas exhibit a mix of enclosed, semi-open, and void spaces, drawing inspiration from Gambia’s local culture in terms of materials and form. Traditional knitting practices and forms, commonly seen in daily life, are interpreted through the design of the pergolas. Beyond its ministerial function, the complex is envisioned as a secure recreational area for the public, incorporating social spaces, green elements, and water features.
