The Ministry of Health in Turkey engaged OWP/P and NKY to provide consulting services on the planning and design of a new 2600 bed hospital in Etlik, just outside of the center of the capitol city of Ankara. The 600.000 SM new construction facility is the first large-scale project in the Ministry of Health’s re-imagination of the public health system. The Etlik medical campus consists of six freestanding hospitals: general hospital, cardiovascular, orthopedics/neurosciences, children’s, women’s and oncology facilities that are connected by a diagnostic and treatment base that share some of its services with the specialty facilities. The six hospitals each have their own identity. The campus program includes 120 operating rooms and an emergency department that can accommodate up to 3,000 visits per day. Sustainable design and environmental provisions have been integrated into the planning of the facility.
