Al Fintas

Al Fintas is designed to be the heart of Kuwait City, revitalizing the Kuwaiti coastline with its size, iconic design, and multifaceted program. This new marina and waterfront will offer unique public destinations accessible from both the sea and the city, catering to Kuwaiti people and yacht owners with diverse functions, unique shopping, and entertainment facilities under a continuous transparent roof. The project includes approximately 1,200 berths and a luxury hotel.

The multifunctional design integrates the marina into the urban fabric, making it a focal point for both international visitors and locals. Key features such as a conference hall, hotel, and yacht club are centrally located, creating an island-like concept. The design aims to merge city life and nature, overcoming the challenges of Kuwait's climate by creating a holistic interior environment that reflects the country's architecture, geography, and natural elements.

Maximizing the visual display of luxury yachts is a primary goal, with the design incorporating various program types such as a mall, botanical garden, beach, and entertainment center. These elements are integrated along a main spine, ensuring internal continuity and directing transportation and user flow. This spine establishes strong relationships between the different functions and users, enhancing the recreational experience.

The architectural form and façade design draw inspiration from Kuwait's maritime history, especially its fishing and pearl trade heritage. The design language references the sea's monumentality and the oyster and raw pearl, which are central elements. Additionally, similarities between traditional Kuwaiti sunshades called Mashrabiya and the patterns formed by sunlight refractions in the sea have influenced the project’s aesthetic.
