AUTONOMOUS VEHICLE O-E-GNT1-61
Today, the world is changing in unprecedented ways. First and foremost, people are rapidly abandoning self-sufficient rural lifestyles and migrating to urban areas. This urbanization trend brings significant challenges in the equitable distribution of essential services such as food, water, housing, education, transportation, and security—basic human rights. However, addressing these challenges also raises concerns about resource availability. The Earth’s resources are finite and not equally accessible to all. Consequently, humanity is approaching a critical crossroads:
Either we will witness major conflicts over resources—where the powerful dominate the weak—or we will pursue peaceful and efficient ways to share and manage these resources. To achieve the latter, minimizing waste and preserving existing resources becomes imperative.
This project explores what autonomous electric vehicles (AEVs) of the future should look like. The first fundamental question is: how much time does a privately owned car actually spend in active use—outside of working hours and sleep? Or does it mostly remain idle in a parking space? Perhaps a shared vehicle model, accessible on demand, would benefit both individual economies and the planet. So, what features should define such a vehicle?
Autonomy
The vehicle will autonomously arrive at your location when needed. This is made possible by a city-wide network of shared autonomous vehicles. Your personal AI assistant will communicate with the system to dispatch the closest available vehicle from the circulating fleet.
Shared Vehicle Concept
The vehicle will notify you when it’s en route, pick you up from your chosen location, and drop you off at your destination. There is no need to park it afterward; it immediately continues to serve other users.
Artificial Intelligence Integration
The vehicle adapts to you with personalized settings displayed on onboard screens. During the ride, you can connect with your contacts, attend virtual meetings, or watch live events. When the vehicle is idle, transparent glass displays advertising content, generating revenue to offset maintenance and energy costs—thus lowering the user’s overall expenses.
Smart Electric Functionality
Powered by a rechargeable battery, the vehicle autonomously monitors its energy levels and recharges at a station when not in use. In emergency situations or congested scenarios, vehicles may share energy between each other. The design is based on a future-forward sharing philosophy.
Optional Manual Drive
If the passenger prefers manual control, the steering wheel, accelerator, and brake pedals deploy automatically. Otherwise, they remain retracted to maximize interior space.
Smart Surfaces and Communication
The side and front windows are equipped with smart membranes capable of displaying interactive content. The license plate area is replaced with a digital panel showing the vehicle’s ID, destination, and customer codename. A large internal display provides passengers with real-time travel and service information.
Exterior Design
Defined by fluid, clean, and assertive lines, the design emphasizes both balance and safety. The windshield seamlessly continues across the roof, enhancing interior spaciousness. Glass surfaces double as transparent digital screens, capable of showing advertising or public announcements. The exterior color can be adjusted for branding or informational purposes.
Interior Features
A large central screen dominates the dashboard. The steering wheel and pedals retract when not in use. Upholstery is made of eco-friendly faux leather in a refined gray tone. The specially designed seats not only enhance comfort but also provide safety by shifting slightly forward during collisions.
If desired, these seats can instantly slide slightly forward to create space for luggage in the rear compartment.
